What Hospital Nurses Know About Hard Days

Spend time around nurses and you notice something: they absorb more hard moments in a shift than most people see in a month, and they come back. How?

They triage

Not everything gets equal attention. The urgent gets handled, the important gets scheduled, the trivial waits. Most burnout comes from treating everything as urgent.

They debrief

A hard code, a lost patient: they talk about it, briefly, with people who understand. Then they go to the next room.

They clock out

The shift ends. The best ones leave the building and leave the work. Recovery is part of the job.

You do not have to be in a hospital to borrow this. Triage, debrief, clock out. Then come back tomorrow.
